Therapy for high-performing women in Washington State

What is therapy with Erika ?

Therapy with Erika is a steady, reflective space for women who are carrying a lot and need support making sense of what they feel, what they need, and what has become too heavy to keep holding alone.

This work is rooted in the belief that your emotional and physical responses are not random. Anxiety, exhaustion, resentment, shutdown, grief, or the inability to rest may be signals from your body that something needs care, attention, protection, or change.

In therapy, we do not rush to silence those signals or force you to push through them. We slow down, make meaning of them, and begin building a different relationship with yourself.

What to Expect in Our Sessions Together?

Naming What Has Been Hard to Name

We begin by slowing things down and putting language to what may have felt vague, overwhelming, or difficult to explain.

Sometimes the words we use—“stuff,” “things,” “a lot,” or “I’m just tired”—protect us from feelings that have not had enough space to be named. In therapy, we gently get more specific so you can understand what you are actually carrying and begin interacting with it differently.

Listening to the Body’s Language

Your emotional and physical responses are not the enemy.

Overthinking, shutting down, bracing, pushing through, crying without knowing why, feeling numb, or feeling activated in certain relationships can all be ways your body is communicating.

We work together to understand what those responses may be revealing, where they may have been learned, and what kind of support, boundary, care, or change they may be asking for.

Understanding the Patterns That Shaped You

Your responses did not come from nowhere.

Together, we look at the family roles, relationship dynamics, cultural messages, responsibilities, losses, and lived experiences that shaped how you learned to survive, connect, achieve, protect yourself, or stay needed.

The goal is not to blame your past. The goal is to understand what shaped the patterns so you can decide how you want to respond now.

Building Safety, Grounding, and Containment

Therapy can bring important realizations, but insight without containment can feel overwhelming.

We work at a pace that supports your nervous system. That may include grounding, breath, movement, sensory awareness, reflection, practical tools, and clear between-session practices that help you stay connected to the present while working through what has been carried.

Practicing New Responses

As awareness grows, we begin practicing different ways of responding to yourself and others.

That may include setting boundaries without over-explaining, noticing when empathy turns into responsibility, making decisions without guilt leading the way, or creating space before responding to someone else’s need.

Over time, therapy helps you move from automatic survival responses toward more intentional choices.

Is Therapy Right for You?

You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many of my clients are functioning at a high level while privately carrying anxiety, burnout, grief, resentment, relationship strain, emotional exhaustion, or a sense of disconnection from themselves.

This space may be a good fit if you are navigating:

  • High-functioning anxiety or depression

  • Burnout from years of overgiving, overachieving, or holding everything together

  • Grief, loss, or major life transitions

  • Relationship strain connected to boundaries, communication, identity, or personal change

  • Difficulty slowing down, resting, or receiving support

  • Emotional overwhelm, shutdown, resentment, or chronic guilt

  • A growing tension between who you learned to be and how you want to live now

“When I started meeting with Erika, I was overwhelmed, anxious and had trust issues that led to panic attacks. Erika taught me how to open my mind, use my voice, and explore the anxiety and tension with curiosity and self compassion. Erika always met me where I was, and I’m truly happier and more courageous due to her insight and support. I cannot thank her enough.”

Ready to Take the Next Step?

You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy.

A consultation gives us a chance to briefly discuss what is bringing you to therapy, what kind of support you are looking for, and whether my approach feels aligned with what you need right now.

This is not a full therapy session, and you do not need to share your whole story during the call. It is simply a first conversation to help us determine fit.

If we decide to continue working together, there will be time and space for your story to unfold with care.
